Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, has an extremely small Interior Designing education landscape - Careers360's own filtered listings show just one college in Itanagar city offering a B.Des in Interior Design, and only one more genuine option exists in the wider Papum Pare district that forms part of the same capital - region cluster. This list sticks strictly to these two verified colleges rather than inflating the count with generic Design or Fashion colleges that do not actually offer Interior Design.
The best Interior Designing colleges in Itanagar are Himalayan University, Itanagar (private, the only college directly in Itanagar city confirmed to offer a full B.Des in Interior Design, a 3 - year full - time undergraduate degree admitting students straight after Class 12 Science or an equivalent stream, with direct second - year entry available for candidates holding a 10+2 plus a 1 - year Diploma in Interior Design) and Venkateshwara Open University, Papum Pare (private, offers B.Des in Interior Design, located in the same Papum Pare district that includes Naharlagun and forms part of the greater Itanagar capital complex) - both operating as UGC - recognised private universities in Arunachal Pradesh.
Admission to Interior Designing colleges in Itanagar is merit - based on Class 12 marks, without a dedicated national design entrance exam (unlike NIFT/NID/CEPT elsewhere in India) - both colleges admit directly based on academic marks. Minimum eligibility is Class 12 (Science stream or equivalent) for direct first - year entry; candidates with a 10+2 plus a 1 - year Diploma in Interior Design can enter directly into the second year at Himalayan University. B.Des Interior Design is a 3 - year full - time undergraduate programme covering space planning, materials and finishes, CAD/3D visualisation, and furniture design. Annual fees at Himalayan University run around ₹95,000, with total 3 - year fees in the ₹2.5 - 3 lakh range; fee data for Venkateshwara Open University is less publicly documented.
Interior Designing graduates from Itanagar's colleges generally start with entry - level salaries around ₹2 - 4 lakh per annum, working as interior designers, interior decorators, furniture designers, or visual merchandisers, with experienced professionals in the region able to earn up to ₹10 - 20 lakh per annum. Given the very limited local design and real - estate industry in Arunachal Pradesh, many graduates relocate to Guwahati or other larger Northeast and metro cities for stronger placement opportunities, or start independent design consultancy practices locally. Career paths include Interior Designer, Interior Decorator, Furniture Designer, and Visual Merchandiser. Many graduates pursue further specialisation through an M.Des or set up their own design ventures.
